Don’t you ever wish the gods and goddesses were real? That there were extraordinary beings you could relate to, powerful, yet still full of human qualities? That thought sparked my curiosity about our own folklore. I began reading about our diwatas, anitos, and deities, each one holding stories I never knew were just as rich, exciting, and magical as the myths from other parts of the world. Among them, Tala stood out to me the most.
I imagine Tala as a young woman with ethereal beauty, someone who not only guides us but also inspires kindness toward all living creatures. As the goddess of the morning and evening star, she feels like a gentle but ever-present light.
